Nick Lorenz Wins Pro Lite Final In NY! – Moves To Third Place In Championship With First-Ever Victory In Class

Nick Lorenz put himself in the right place at the right time on Saturday night to capture the first Pro Lite win of his career. It was far and away his best weekend of the season, never finishing outside of the top three in qualifying, including a heat race win and leaving New York with two top five main event results which have propelled him to third in the class championship.

The highlight weekend marks another step in Nick’s return to a place among the sport’s elite up and coming racers after sitting out the past two seasons with injuries.

“This has been a long time coming,” said Lorenz, after a good rookie year and two bad years. It’s been since Sport class that I’ve gotten a win, so this one means a lot. Yeah, this one means the world to me, to be honest.”

Carson Alread finished fifth in Friday night’s Sport class final a was running as high as fourth on Saturday night before a tip over dropped him back down to 10th late in the race. Alread also picked up a pair of heat race wins during the weekend and remains second in the points race.

“Overall not the weekend we wanted,” said Alread, but we’ve got the speed and I just need to work on some stuff and come back stronger next weekend.”

Trent Wittwer finished eighth and ninth in Pro finals and climbed one position in the standings to eighth overall.

New York race fans always come out in full force when the national snocross tour visits the empire state and this year was no exception. Warm temps and sunny skies greeted spectators throughout the weekend and the large hillside viewing area that lines one side of the track was full and active both days.

The team will have two open weekends before completing the final two events of the season on back-to-back weekends in Michigan and Wisconsin beginning March 13.
