Quick Starts Propel Ross Martin To A Pair Of Second Place Finishes In Minnesota, Nick Lorenz On The Podium All Three Days In Pro Lite

Duluth, MN (January 9, 2017) – Rounds five and six at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota are always considered the most crucial of the season as the AMSOIL Championship Snocross tour wraps up the holidays and begins a grueling stretch of races while criss-crossing the country. It’s important to leave Minnesota near the front of the championship and with momentum going into the heart of the schedule.

The Jack LInk’s, AMSOIL, Axalta, Polaris team hit on a new suspension setup during the break and came out firing with Ross Martin collecting two second place finishes in the Pro Open class, re-establishing himself as one of the sport’s all-time best. “I’m excited to leave here with a couple of podiums, but more importantly we’re getting the sled dialed and my confidence is back,” said Martin. We’re going to be on a long streak of races and I feel a win coming.”

In the Pro Lite class, rookie Nick Lorenz had his best weekend to date stepping on the podium all three days in third place and moving into second place in the championship. “This weekend went awesome,” said Lorenz. Definitely a building point for the season, I proved to myself that I can push through to the end of every final, the starts are getting better, the team is working well together and the track at Canterbury was awesome.”

Jake Angove, who had been holding the second spot in the Pro Lite class had an off-weekend but rebounded nicely on day three to get some momentum back as the tour heads to the next stop in Deadwood, South Dakota on January 20-21. “It wasn’t the greatest weekend for me. Friday was just an off day for me but the last two days I felt great on the sled,” said Angove. I’m confident I know I can get back on top of the box. I’m going to work hard next week and do all I can to get back on top.”

Despite single digit temperatures for much of the three day weekend, the largest crowds of the season came out to take advantage of Canterbury Park’s spacious indoor seating and watch the action at what is widely considered one of the best tracks on the tour.
