SILVER AT SEASON OPENER

The 2024/2025 season commenced this past weekend in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula at Mt. Zion Ski Hill in Ironwood Michigan. The season opener track featured a large layout stretched across the ski hill with both left and right hand turns, split lanes, and tight bar-to-bar action from the holeshot to checkered flag. After the shortage of snow the series was faced with last season, riders and teams were pleased to be greeted with a track with a great deal of snow to kick things off.

AMSOIL DOMINATOR

Racing began Friday with the Amsoil Dominator, a winner-takes-all head-to-head race with $10,000 and the highly sought-after title of an Amsoil Dominator winner on the line. Pro and Pro Lite riders battled it out across seeding and four rounds for the title.

Kamm made it through to the second round, where his efforts just came up short for a spot in the semifinal. Harr clicked off three head-to-head wins to advance all the way to the final round where he battled it out with two other riders, ultimately earning the runner-up position.

ROUND 1

To kick off the first national points race of the season our JM duo impressed as they qualified 1st (Harr) and 3rd (Kamm), earning Harr the priority gate pick on the start for the first Triple Crown round.

Triple Crown Format: three rounds of racing where the overall podium is decided by combined scores across the three races with the lowest total score winning.

Round one of three got underway with Harr and Kamm lined up side by side off the start. Both riders jumped out around the top five, with Harr quickly moving up to the top three and Kamm partaking in battles mid-pack. In typical Harr fashion, he found another gear in the later stages of the race, forging ahead making two passes to the lead with a few minutes remaining, securing the win. When the dust settled with Kamms battles, he walked away with sixth.

The second round featured a similar story off the start for Harr as he hovered around the top five, while Kamm got pinched and ended up near the rear of the pack. Harr soon found himself in a three-way battle for second. He was able to dissect the other riders and found an edge to make passes. Once getting by, he swiftly caught the race leader and attempted to challenge for the win however he did not find enough to navigate through in lapped traffic and ultimately finished the race in second. After what felt like a race-long fight, Kamm ended in seventh.

Harr found himself in yet another three-way battle off the start in round three. Shortly after, he gained the upper hand and settled into second place early on where he remained for the remainder of the race. Kamm, lined up on one of the outermost gates in the final round, struggled off the start and a few laps in got tangled up in a corner with two other riders, leaving him a lap down and eventually finishing twelfth. Harr’s 1-2-2 finishes earned him a second overall while Kamm’s 6-7-12 finishes placed him ninth overall.

The tour will now take a recess for the holidays and resume in the new year on January 10th & 11th in Shakopee, MN at Canterbury Park for rounds two and three.

ICYMI: The Amsoil Dominator and Round 1 are scheduled to replay on Fox Sports 2 (FS2) on December 29th, 2024.
