Jake Angove Eighth At Round 10 In New York
Duluth, MN (February 19, 2018) – Jake Angove came out swinging to start the second half of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross tour and while the results don’t completely tell the story, his eighth place finish on Saturday night was just a small part of a weekend full of positives.
“Jake has been in a tough position this year,” said team owner Scott Judnick. He came into a deep field of pro racers as a rookie, having to fill the shoes of one of the winningest riders in the sport’s history. There is always pressure to perform at this level but I think a lot of it comes from Jake’s expectations of himself and after having to struggle for every spot in every race through the midway point of the season it got to be a little overwhelming. We had a really good talk over the recent break in the schedule and I think we saw some of Jake’s best races this weekend.”
Angove had moved up to the fifth spot in Friday night’s main event, passing riders who have been at the front of the pack all season, when he was taken out by the current point leader halfway through the race. While he was knocked off his sled, he did remount and raced back from last place to finish 11th.
On Saturday Angove started from the final spot on the outside of the front row. He quickly advanced two positions and then battled with a number of racers to hold down eighth place at the finish.
Next up is are rounds 11 and 12 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, where Pro Lite rider Nick Lorenz is expected to rejoin the team and take part in his first race of the year after having to sit out the first 10 rounds recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in an off-season training session.
