Jake Angove Moves To Second In Pro Lite Championship With Podium In Deadwood

Lake Nebagamon, Wisc. -January 25, 2016 – Jake Angove continued his remarkable run up the Pro Lite championship ladder in Deadwood, South Dakota, scoring two top five finishes and moving into second place in the title chase.

The course in Deadwood is constructed within the confines of a rodeo bull ring and always produces close action with plenty of contact. The track featured deeper snow that we have seen in previous years and daytime temperatures in the upper 40s meant that large holes, heavy roost and poor on-track visibility would be the norm.

Throughout the weekend, Angove never finished out of the top three in qualifying action. On Friday night he smartly managed his race after starting mid pack and carefully worked his way through heavy traffic to fifth. On Saturday, Angove dueled at the front of the field with the class heavyweights, engaging in a heated battle for second place which he secured on the final lap.

As a result, Angove jumped two positions in the national standings and has started to garner a big share of the spotlight as a weekly threat to win.

Veteran Pro Open racer Ross Martin took part in his first full weekend of competition since the opening round in Duluth, Minnesota. Martin’s ankle, which was broken in the off-season, has been deemed 100% structurally sound and he is now working to get back into race shape for the second half of the season.

Martin showed that he has not lost any speed during the down time when he raced to a fifth place in Friday night’s final. On Saturday he did battle some expected fatigue during the second straight day racing on a extremely demanding course. Martin wrapped up the weekend with a tenth and is looking forward to the prospect of getting back on the podium with the Winter X Games coming up this Thursday.
