Jake Angove Scores First Pro Heat Race Win
Jake Angove checked off another important box in his rookie season in the Pro class, winning his first heat race on Friday night as the AMSOIL Championship Snocross series made it’s second annual stop at Sundown Mountain outside of Dubuque, Iowa.
By virtue of his qualifying finishes, Angove started the round 13 main event on the front row. Hoping to build off the momentum of his first win, Angove was racing at mid-pack before coming off his sled on one of two treacherous downhill sections of the course.
Unfortunately, Jake had a similar experience on Saturday, when he came off on the opening lap. This time, however, he was able to remount and utilize the remaining laps to work his way back through the field to 11th place.
Carson Alread had a bounce back weekend after struggling at his home state in Michigan. Alread rode to two heat race wins during the weekend and finished with two top tens in the main events, including a sixth in round 14 on Saturday night.
Up next is the series finale in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on March 16-18, where both team riders will have an opportunity to finish the season in the top 10 in their respective points championships. The Pro class will race all three days, while the Sport class will compete on Saturday and Sunday for national points.
