James Johnstad & Ross Martin Wins
James Johnstad Wins Pro Lite, Ross Martin Back In Podium Form
Lake Nebagamon, Wisc. – December 15, 2014 – James Johnstad made the most of a home field advantage, racing to his first win of the season in the Pro Lite class at the AMSOIL Championship Snocross U.S. Air Force National held just outside of Fargo, North Dakota. Johnstad, who hails from nearby Beltrami, Minnesota was able to dust off the bad luck that plagued him at the season opener, turning in another podium appearance on Saturday night with a third place finish, rejoining the class leaders at the front of the season standings.
For Ross Martin, the weekend marked a major turnaround that ended with his first podium of the season on Saturday, as he raced to a second overall in the elite Pro Open class. Each of the first two national weekends have featured race tracks that have been exceptionally rough and demanding on both rider and machine. “We struggled to get Ross comfortable on the sled early,” said team owner Scott Judnick. Even with all of the testing after Duluth, we almost went backwards before we went forward, but we made major changes after the race on Friday night and you could see we’ve got the old Ross back.”
“We ended up with a second place finish and given the position we were in after the first weekend in Duluth, that’s as a win any day in my eyes, “ said Martin. We are just going to go into this break and work hard and hopefully come back and get a few more wins.”
The series will take an extended holiday break and resume on January 9-10 at one of the premier venues on the tour, Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota
