Lorenz Back on Top, Harr Scores Another Top Five
Duluth, MN (March 22, 2021) – It was a successful weekend for Judnick Motorsports as the national series made its debut at the famed World Championship Derby Complex in Eagle River, Wis. Leading the charge was the comeback, and a come-from-behind effort, by Pro Lite rider Nick Lorenz.
The Klim/Jack Links Polaris rider had been sidelined for the past month with a wrist injury, but he was perfect in his return at the Derby Track on Friday. Lorenz won both of his heat races, making him the number qualifier for the final. Once there, the round five winner used a strong start and a pair of lap seven passes to go from third to the lead. Once out front, Lorenz didn’t miss a mark on the big air rhythm sections as he crossed the finish line with his second win of the year.
On Saturday, Lorenz started a little farther back in the final, but once again found speed where others couldn’t. He worked his way from just inside the top ten off the start and into fifth with just a few laps remaining. It marked Lorenz’s fifth top five finish in a Pro Lite class this season.
In the Pro ranks, Emil Harr is making a strong push to finish the season in the top five overall. He picked up valuable championship points by finishing second twice in his qualifiers over the weekend. In the finals, the hard-charging Swede again showed off his ability to ride through the crowd. On Friday, Harr had his hands full after a mid-pack start. Once he was able to find clean air, he quickly charged into a top five finish, just missing fourth by a couple of sled-lengths.
Harr again started off Saturday’s final mid-pack, but swiftly made his way through some battles and into the top five. But contact with another rider forced him off his sled, resulting in a tenth place finish. Harr sits seventh overall in the Pro standings, just ten points out of the fifth spot. Pro Lite rider Carson Alread’s chase for a top three finish in 2021 was helped out greatly by a pair of compelling qualifying runs, including a heat race win on Saturday. Despite good starts in the finals, including a top five running on Saturday night, the big track in Eagle River came up to bite Alread twice. The Gaylord, Michigan native was kicked from the sled both nights, finishing outside of the top ten both days. Despite that, he still sits fourth overall with just two rounds remaining.
The Klim/Jack Links Polaris team looks forward to building on its success with a return trip to the World Championship Derby Complex as the series finishes its 2021 campaign back in Eagle River, March 26-28. The Derby Track has more than 50 years of history making champions, and the Judnick Motorsports riders are ready to conquer one of the biggest and best tracks ever designed for a national event. Two rounds of points racing will take place Friday and Saturday. Sunday will be highlighted by the end-of-the-year Dominator race which will pit the top Pro level riders in a head-to-head matchup.
