Onwards and Upwards

After a year hiatus due to mother nature, the series made its return back east to the Empire State at Seneca Allegany Casino and Resort in Salamanca, New York. Mother nature again was not on our side as unseasonably warm temps almost forfeited the event for the second year in a row, but the Amsoil Championship Snocross crew made it happen for the series 10th visit to the facility. Even with one of the smallest, shortest, and tightest tracks of the season, the very spirited east coast fans showed up in full force and packed the house to witness some intense racing action and that it was.

Friday | Round 8

Friday’s night show action kicked off with Kamm nailing a top five start as Harr hovered just outside of that in Round 1. Straight away Kamm went head to head for a top three position and was able to secure it while Harr trailed in sixth. Both riders stayed in their respective positions until the end of the race where Kamm was contested for his third place with two minutes to go. Although putting up a good fight, Kamm eventually ended the race in fourth with Harr in sixth.

A less than ideal jump off the line for both riders in Round 2 left them side by side fighting for a top ten position on the first lap. On a tight, short track like this, the start was absolutely crucial so both riders had their work cut out for them to try and salvage any positions they could. Harr found a place in eighth where he hung out a majority of the race and Kamm was in tow until a small miscalculation in a corner resulted in an off. When everything was all said and done, Harr came across the checkers in eighth and Kamm in twelfth.

The third and final Triple Crown Round of the night featured even more chaos than the previous two. Kamm got a decent start while teammate Harr got clipped and was ejected off his sled within the first 500ft of the race, putting him a lap down right off the start before he was able to regain power. Kamm was sitting in seventh until four minutes remaining when another rider crashed in front of him, leaving him with nowhere to go and being collected with the rider. Kamm stopped and took a few minutes to block the rider from oncoming traffic to ensure his safety, costing him a little extra time. Despite being able to get back to pace, it wasn’t enough as the clock ticked down where Harr took tenth and Kamm right behind in eleventh. Harr’s 6-8-10 finishes put him seventh overall and Kamm’s 4-12-11 put him eleventh overall.

Saturday | Round 9

Determined to right the previous night’s wrongs, Harr shot out to a top five start in Round 1 as Kamm was left fighting for a top ten position. Harr quickly slotted into the top three where he remained until three minutes remaining when a small mistake allowed another rider to get by. However our #31 was not finished just yet and got a good drive through the whoops and was able to dive back under the rider on the inside to reclaim his top three position where he’d finish. Kamm traded positions with multiple riders back and forth, all the way down to the last corner before taking eighth.

Round 2 began with Harr finding a smooth inside line off the start, diving under the field to position himself in the top three early on. Similar to his previous round, Kamm couldn’t find anything off the biased start, leaving him near the back of the pack. Harr played cat and mouse with another rider until the second half of the race where the rider got on the inside of him in a corner, pushing him out resulting in an off. Harr remounted as quickly as possible to try and recover any positions possible where he’d finish just behind his teammate Kamm (eighth) in ninth.

Kamm elected to line up in the back row on the inside in attempts to get a better start, in which he did, and Harr all the way on the outside lane in the front row in Round 3. Much like the previous round, Harr sprung into a top three start with Kamm lingering behind. In a rather uneventful round where a majority of riders played follow the leader, both riders remained in their starting positions of third and eighth. Harr scored 3-9-3 finishes putting him fourth overall and Kamm with 8-8-8 finishes for ninth overall.

Although a tougher weekend, Harr still remains the Pro points leader following Round 9 and Kamm is finally leaving a weekend of racing healthy and able to practice in between rounds. The team will regroup and reset to come out swinging in our next rounds in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on March 1st and 2nd.
