RJ Roy Deals Season Best 4th At Historic Deadwood
Duluth, MN (January 29, 2019) – For the second straight time, RJ Roy turned in his best performance of the season in the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Pro Lite division. On Friday night RJ just missed a podium finish on the bullring course in Deadwood, South Dakota, racing his way into the third position before getting caught up in lapped traffic and surrendering a spot with just one lap to go. Despite being frustrated with not getting on the box, Roy and the team where pleased with his continual improvement and best result of the season.
On Saturday, RJ took an even greater stride by going 2-1 in qualifying and backing up his Friday night performance with another fourth place. Consistency over a two-race weekend is something the team has been striving for all year and it was a great sign of growth for the young Canadian rider who was an in-season fill in for the team’s Pro Lite entry.
“I was right there on Friday and there were so many lappers at the end, I just made a mistake and took the wrong line trying to pass them,” said Roy. On Saturday I was in fourth the whole time, I could see the leaders but the track was really rough and hard to make any moves. We are right there and it (a podium) is coming.”
Pro racer Corin Todd struggled with visibility in the main events, having to start from back row qualifying spots each night. Todd finished 12th and 14th in the Pro finals.
This week brings the quickest turnaround of the season with sleds getting cleaned and prepped between long road trips for rounds nine and 10 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan on February 1-2.
