RJ Roy Races To Season Best 5th At Canterbury Park
Duluth, MN (January 7, 2019) – RJ Roy raced to his best finish of the season in the Pro Lite class, with a fifth place result at round 5 of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross tour in Shakopee, Minnesota. Roy also scored a heat race win on Friday night.
On Saturday RJ raced from a back row starting position in the main event to a ninth place finish.
Corin Todd posted a win of his own in the opening round of Pro qualifying on Friday. Todd has been a consistent top 10 competitor in the class all season and stayed the course in Minnesota with an eighth place on Friday and tenth on Saturday. Corin, who has a reputation as a holeshot artist, jumped a little too soon at the start of Saturday’s main event and was sent to the back row, where he worked his way forward throughout the sixteen laps.
On Friday, Sport racer Carson Alread sustained an injury after a hard landing in his first practice session. Carson did not crash but experienced severe pain and a momentary loss of feeling on impact. After receiving outstanding trackside care from the FXR Mobile Medical crew, he was brought to a hospital in the Twin Cities where he had surgery on Monday to stabilize a shattered L1 vertebra. The team will issue a full report on Carson’s condition in the coming days.
Warmer than normal January temps brought out records crowds to Canterbury Park on both Friday and Saturday. Next up is another crowd favorite on the bullring in downtown Deadwood, South Dakota on Janaury 25-26.
